The adjustment from PC to MAC is a more serious one then I thought...

I'm sitting at a coffee shop in New Orleans trying to perform a previously simple task... which now suddenly seems akin to trying to land the space shuttle while trashed on Mad Dog & not only that, evil space pugs are attacking your ankles & your crying mom is on the cell phone, begging you to come home for christmas.

All I want to do is post some goddam photos.

Irritatingly obtuse user interface obscurity aside, life here in New Orleans is a stranger... & more comfortable... experience than I ever expected. A warmth (literal & social) permeates everything here, as do the cockroaches & there is a reason this place is called the Big Easy: it's because it IS easy here. It took me 24 hours to find a job, 72 hours to find three more jobs. One week to find an apartment & that required no application, only a handshake & some cash. Racially, we crackers are far outnumbered & that, I'm finding, is a fucking beautiful thing. People TALK here, black, whites trading smiles & hellos & shooting the shit, interactions abound, some rough, most fine. People are not over-whelmingly assigned to skin-color roles, at least not at first glance. I'm going to be here for a while, I suppose I'll find out.

I initially thought I was going to be here for just six months. Now I can see myself spending years here... There is so much culture, history & depth to this city, I want to know it all, providing somebody does not pop a cap in my ass, as they say.

Anyway, all of you nameless digital browsers, I'm working on getting up to speed, literally, with o glorious DSL & once that happens, I'll be posting photos & essays like a fucking madman. Check back, stay tuned, whatever.

PS: Bush is king. Again. For real this time. God help us all.
